About
Teen Challenge (Singapore)
On October 17, 1976. Dr Rev. Naomi Dowdy established Teen Challenge (Singapore) under the auspices of the Assemblies of God.
Since its inception, Teen Challenge has been dedicated to advocating for alternative sentencing options for marginalized individuals by identifying and addressing their pressing needs.

Origin Story
1958
A Call to Action
Rev. David Wilkerson felt a burden for gang-involved youth after reading about a murder trial in New York. He began praying and soon travelled to the city, where he connected with young men caught in gang violence and addiction.
1960
First Teen Challenge Center
Seeing the deep struggles of drug addiction and brokenness, Rev. Wilkerson established the first Teen Challenge rehabilitation center in Brooklyn, New York.
1960s–1980s
Growing Movement
The ministry spread across the United States, reaching youth and adults struggling with addiction through a holistic, faith-based approach.
Today
Global Impact
Teen Challenge has grown into 1,200 programs across 115 countries, offering hope and transformation to individuals and families worldwide.
Legacy
The Cross and
the Switchblade
The story of Teen Challenge’s beginnings was told in The Cross and the Switchblade, a book that has sold over 15 million copies in 30 languages.
